He works closely with consultant dermatologists in both the NHS and private practice, and has extensive experience caring for patients diagnosed with melanoma and other skin cancers.

Your mole mapping appointment is carried out by our highly trained skin cancer nurse specialists under Mr Chin’s clinical supervision. If anything needs further assessment, a follow-up consultation with Mr Chin can be arranged promptly – giving you continuity of care and clear medical guidance.

Apex Medical is based at Berkshire Grove Hospital in Maidenhead, with clinics also at the Parkside Suite. Patients travel to us from Reading, Windsor, Slough, Marlow, Bracknell, London and across Berkshire, Surrey and Oxfordshire for consultant-led care in a regulated private hospital, without long waiting times. On-site parking is available.

Mole mapping is a non-invasive, high-resolution digital imaging process that records the appearance and position of your moles. Using FotoFinder technology, we monitor changes over time, helping to detect early signs of skin cancer before they become obvious to the eye. It is particularly recommended for people with multiple or atypical moles, or a personal or family history of melanoma.

No. A standard mole check is a one-off visual examination of your skin. Digital mole mapping includes full body photography, dermoscopic imaging and structured surveillance over time — allowing new or changing moles to be identified at follow-up appointments.

At Apex Skin Clinic, a full body mole mapping appointment costs £380, with follow-up imaging at £304 and a two-person appointment at £680. Pricing is transparent, with no hidden consultation fees.

Mole mapping does not diagnose cancer, but it can identify suspicious moles that may require a biopsy or excision. It is an important tool in detecting melanoma and other skin cancers at an early stage, when treatment is most effective.

Yes. Mole mapping is safe, painless and radiation-free. It involves no injections or dyes, and is suitable for all skin types.

Most higher-risk individuals, such as those with many moles, a family history of skin cancer, or a previous melanoma, benefit from mole mapping every 6-12 months. Your clinical team will recommend a personalised surveillance plan based on your risk profile.

If a mole appears unusual or has changed between scans, our clinical team may recommend a biopsy or mole excision to confirm the diagnosis. Procedures are carried out by our consultant-led team at Berkshire Grove Hospital.
