Is this you

Most people who come to us for labiaplasty say one of these things:

Cycling, gym leggings, certain clothes: I plan around discomfort.
It's been on my mind since my teens. I've never told anyone.
After children, things changed, and I'd like to feel like myself again.
It's not about how it looks to anyone else. It's about how it feels to me.
I've read everything online. I need a real medical conversation now.
I want a surgeon who treats this as surgery, not a trend.
Labiaplasty is one of the most common procedures patients research and one of the least talked about. Physical discomfort is as frequent a reason as appearance, both are legitimate, and the consultation is as private as medicine gets.
THE PROCEDURE, EXPLAINED

What is labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is surgery to reduce or reshape the labia minora (and sometimes majora), most often for physical discomfort in clothing, sport or intimacy, for irritation, or for longstanding self-consciousness. It's usually a day-case procedure of around an hour, under local or general anaesthetic, using techniques that preserve sensation and natural appearance.

Worth saying plainly: labial anatomy varies enormously, and variation is normal, not a defect. Surgery exists for when your anatomy causes you genuine physical or psychological distress, not to meet an imaginary standard, and an honest consultation will tell you frankly where you sit, including when reassurance is the better prescription.
HONEST SUITABILITY

Who labiaplasty is right for

Good candidates share a few things: persistent physical symptoms or longstanding distress rather than a recent worry, stable timing (if pregnancy is actively on your horizon, tissues can change, and timing deserves a conversation), being 18 or over, which is the law for cosmetic genital surgery without exception, realistic expectations, and a decision made for yourself.

The honest screens are handled with the same respect as everything else here. Recent major life events and any sense of external pressure are things a responsible surgeon gently explores, because they're known to complicate satisfaction. Psychological wellbeing is part of the assessment, respectfully, because good surgeons screen as carefully as they operate. And where distress is disproportionate to anatomy, the kind advice may include support other than surgery. You'll never be talked into an operation here.

TECHNIQUES, HONESTLY

Trim, wedge, and the honest trade-offs

Two established approaches cover most labiaplasty surgery. The trim technique removes tissue along the labial edge, and suits patients who want an irregular or darker edge reduced. The wedge technique removes a small V-shaped section and preserves the natural edge, with the scar line concealed within the labia.

Each has trade-offs in scar placement, edge appearance and suitability, and the right choice is made by your anatomy, not by a surgeon's signature technique. Stitches are dissolvable, and preserving sensation is a design priority throughout. Just as important is what surgery cannot promise: perfect symmetry and guaranteed sensation are beyond any honest surgeon's gift, and you'll hear that before you decide, not after.

2

Two weeks minimum to think

Cooling-off, without exception.

3

Pre-operative assessment

Health screening; timing planned around your cycle and life.

4

Surgery day

About an hour; local or general anaesthetic by preference and plan; home the same day.

5

Transparent Pricing

Labiaplasty Pricing

Fixed, transparent pricing with no hidden extras. Your exact quote is confirmed in writing at consultation, and it holds through your two-week cooling-off period.

Initial Consultation

All-inclusive: consultation, surgery at a CQC-registered hospital, and follow-up until healed. Confirmed in writing before you decide anything.

£2,200

There is nothing to add on the day and nothing hidden in the small print. If a consultation ends with advice other than surgery, that advice is given just as readily.
ONGOING CARE

Healing, comfortably

The first week is about comfort: cool packs used as advised, loose clothing, simple analgesia and straightforward hygiene guidance you'll take home in writing. Swelling is expected and can look dramatic in the first days; the early appearance is not the result, and knowing that in advance spares a lot of unnecessary worry.

Tenderness settles over one to two weeks, stitches dissolve on their own, and you'll have a clear symptom checklist for when to call us, with a direct line to do so. Exercise returns from around four weeks and intimacy from around six, guided honestly at your reviews, which continue until you're fully healed.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about labiaplasty at Apex Medical

Entirely. It's among the most researched procedures in cosmetic surgery, and physical discomfort is as common a driver as appearance. The silence around it doesn't reflect how many women consider it.

Techniques are designed to preserve sensation, and permanent change is uncommon; temporary altered sensation during healing is normal. Your surgeon will discuss this honestly, including the limits of any guarantee.

Manageable with simple analgesia for most: tender and swollen for the first week, careful for a few weeks after. The practical restrictions (exercise, intimacy) matter more than pain for most patients.

Healed results look natural; that is the entire aim. Dissolvable stitches, concealed scar lines and conservative tissue handling are standard.

After, yes, once tissues have settled. If you're actively planning pregnancy soon, timing is worth discussing, since childbirth can alter results; that conversation is part of honest planning, not a barrier.

Yes: 18 is the legal minimum for cosmetic genital surgery in the UK, with no exceptions, and a responsible clinic is cautious with very young adults too, which we are.

Your consultation, records and correspondence are handled with strict confidentiality. Who you tell is entirely your business.
