Is this you

Most people who come to us for Fat Dissolving Injections say one of these things:

Whatever my weight does, the chin stays.
Every photo from below is my worst enemy.
I'm not overweight. It's just this one area.
My jawline has softened and I'd like it back.
I don't want surgery, but I'd like something that actually works.
I want to know honestly whether this would work on me.
That honest answer is the whole point of the consultation. Fat dissolving works brilliantly on the right candidate, and a consultant plastic surgeon will tell you plainly whether that's you.
PERMANENT FAT REDUCTION, EXPLAINED

What are fat dissolving injections and how do they work?

Fat dissolving injections target small, localised fat deposits that don't respond to diet or exercise. A specially formulated solution is injected directly into the fatty tissue, where it breaks down fat cell membranes; your body then clears the released fat through normal metabolic processes. Once destroyed, those fat cells do not return.

The honest boundaries, stated up front: this is contouring, not weight loss. It refines specific areas, most powerfully under the chin, and results build gradually over weeks as the body metabolises the treated fat. Good skin elasticity matters, because the skin needs to retract as the volume reduces; that's exactly what the consultation assesses.

WHERE IT WORKS

Treatment areas

Reduces under-chin fat and improves the definition of the jawline. Creates a sharper, more sculpted facial angle without surgery.

Softens heaviness around the lower face and blends the jawline. Particularly effective when combined with skin tightening or dermal filler treatments.

Enhances facial definition by refining the lower jaw and removing subtle pockets of fat. Fat dissolving injections for the chin and jawline can also complement other procedures for balanced, natural results.

WHICH TREATMENT IS RIGHT?

The right tool for the lower face

Sometimes the answer is removal (fat dissolving), sometimes it's addition (jawline filler to build structure), sometimes it's both in sequence, and occasionally the honest answer is that skin laxity, not fat, is the problem, where dissolving would make things worse rather than better. Being assessed by a consultant plastic surgeon means the recommendation comes from someone with every option on the table, including telling you this treatment isn't for you.

YOUR CARE, STEP BY STEP

How Fat Dissolving Treatment Works

From first assessment to lasting outcome, every stage is consultant led. Here is what happens when you book.

A

Consultation

With Mr Yue: facial structure, fat distribution and skin elasticity assessed, with honest guidance if another treatment, or none, would serve you better.

B

Treatment

30 to 45 minutes: topical anaesthetic, then precise injections into the targeted fat pad. A mild warmth or tingling as the product starts working is normal.

C

The settling week

Swelling and tenderness for three to seven days, most noticeably under the chin. Plan photos and big occasions accordingly; we'll be honest about this.

D

Results build

gradual improvement from four to six weeks as the fat is metabolised. Most patients need two to three sessions, spaced about a month apart.

E

Lasting outcome

Treated fat cells are gone permanently; a stable weight preserves the result.
Ongoing Care

Care that continues between appointments

Swelling and tenderness are expected, and worth planning for: three to seven days, most noticeably under the chin, as the product gets to work on the treated fat. A cold compress during the first 24 to 48 hours eases it, and photos or big occasions are best kept out of the settling week.

Each session's result lands gradually, from four to six weeks, as the body metabolises the fat, which is why sessions are spaced about a month apart and reviewed before the next is booked. Once your course is complete, the treated fat cells are gone permanently; keeping a stable weight is what preserves the result.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about fat dissolving at Apex Medical

Yes. When administered by qualified medical professionals, fat dissolving injections are safe and well tolerated. Temporary swelling, redness or tenderness are normal and resolve naturally within a few days. At Apex Medical, treatment is consultant plastic surgeon led, in a CQC-registered hospital setting.

No. Fat dissolving is localised contouring for people already close to their preferred weight. It targets small, stubborn deposits, under the chin and along the jaw, that don't respond to diet or exercise. If weight loss is the goal, this isn't the tool, and your consultant will say so plainly.

The swelling is the mechanism working: the solution breaks down fat cell membranes, and your body's response is part of clearing the released fat. Expect noticeable swelling for three to seven days, honestly stated, most visibly under the chin. A cold compress in the first day or two helps it settle.

A topical anaesthetic is used for comfort, and most patients describe the sensation as mild stinging or warmth during injection.

Most patients need two to three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, depending on the treatment area and the amount of fat.

Yes. Many patients combine fat dissolving with jawline filler, skin tightening, or anti-wrinkle treatments for a more complete facial sculpting result. Your consultant designs one plan across treatments, sequenced so each supports the others.

Yes. Once the treated fat cells are destroyed, they are permanently removed from the body. Maintaining a stable weight and healthy lifestyle helps ensure the result lasts.
Patient Stories.

In our patients' own words

Exceptionally good patient care. Offering good explanation of diagnosis and treatment plan. Also listened to requests and questions from patient and willing to take this into account when offering treatment. Was willing to take time and did not rush an elderly, hard of hearing patient. Very pleased with service.
