Is this you

Most people who come to us for liposuction say one of these things:

My weight is fine. This one area never listens.
The flanks have survived every diet I've ever done.
Whatever the scales say, the chin in photos stays.
Gym four times a week. The inner thighs don't care.
Diet done, weight stable, and this pocket won't move.
I don't want dramatic. I want proportionate.
Where your body stores its last pockets of fat is genetics, not discipline, and those pockets often outlast every lifestyle change. That's the fat liposuction exists for. And honesty matters up front: this is a contouring operation, not a weight-loss one.
THE OPERATION, EXPLAINED

What liposuction
involves

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes stubborn, localised fat from areas that don't respond to diet and exercise. Through small incisions, usually hidden in natural skin folds, a fine cannula breaks up and removes the fat, reshaping the treated area. It's a day-case procedure of one to 2.5 hours depending on the areas treated, and the removed fat cells do not return.

Two honest limits, stated before you book rather than after. Liposuction is not a weight-loss method: it refines contour in people at or near a stable weight. And it does not significantly tighten loose skin: where skin laxity is the real issue, the honest recommendation may be a tummy tuck or a combined plan, and you'll hear that at consultation. Common treatment areas include the abdomen and flanks, thighs and hips, upper arms, back and bra-line, chin, male chest, knees and calves, alone or in combination.
HONEST SUITABILITY

Who liposuction is right for

The ideal candidate is close to a stable, comfortable weight with specific pockets that won't shift: the flank that survives every cut, the chin that photographs regardless, the thighs that ignore the training plan. The honest screens follow from the operation's limits. If overall weight is still moving, contouring now is contouring sand, and the advice is to stabilise first.

If the real issue is loose skin rather than fat, liposuction alone will disappoint, and you'll be told so with the alternative explained. Skin quality is assessed because it determines how well the treated area contracts. And expectations are examined honestly: the goal is proportion and shape, judged at three to six months when the skin has settled, not a dress size by Friday.

If a consultation ends with "this isn't the right operation for what you're describing", that's the advice you'll get, along with what is.

ONE PROCEDURE, SEVERAL TOOLS

How your liposuction
is planned

Precise fat removal through small incisions, the foundation technique for most areas and most patients.

A mechanised cannula that makes fat removal more efficient across larger areas, with less trauma to surrounding tissue on bigger cases.

Sculpting rather than simple removal: fat contoured around muscle lines for a defined, athletic result, for the right candidate with the right skin.

Focused refinement of a single zone: chin liposuction for the jawline, arm contouring for definition and symmetry, and other localised areas where a small change carries a large effect. For men with excess chest tissue rather than fat alone, gynecomastia surgery is usually the more complete answer.

The fat that's removed can be purified and used elsewhere: a natural enhancement for areas that want volume, planned as one procedure.
The technique matters less than the judgement: which areas, how much, and where to stop. Overdone liposuction is harder to correct than it was to avoid, which is why the plan is drawn at consultation, not improvised in theatre.
Consultant-led care

Operated on by

the surgeon you meet

Liposuction's results are decided in millilitres and millimetres: what's removed, what's deliberately left, and how the treated area blends into everything around it.

At Apex, liposuction is planned and performed personally by Mr Kuen Yeow Chin, Consultant Plastic Surgeon and founder of Apex, with body contouring among his core procedures. The surgeon you meet at consultation is the surgeon who operates, and the same surgeon reviews your result at every follow-up.

YOUR CARE, STEP BY STEP

How liposuction
works at Apex

Five steps, two of them before anyone operates: an honest consultation, then time to think. Contouring rewards patience at both ends.

1

Consultation

Assessment of skin quality, fat distribution and your goals; the areas, technique and realistic outcome agreed honestly; risks and recovery explained plainly; a written quote.

2

Two weeks to think

Cooling-off as standard; the quote holds.

3

Pre-operative assessment

Health screening, medication review, smoking cessation as advised, weight stability confirmed.

4

Surgery day

Day-case surgery of one to 2.5 hours depending on the plan; home the same day in a compression garment, walking lightly from day one.

5

Recovery and review

The garment full-time in the early weeks, daytime thereafter, six weeks in total; desk work at about a week; light exercise from two to three weeks; the contour emerging over three to six months as the skin contracts, reviewed with your surgeon throughout.
Transparent Pricing

Liposuction Pricing

Fixed, transparent pricing with no hidden extras. Your exact quote is confirmed in writing at consultation, and it holds through your two-week cooling-off period.

Liposuction

All-inclusive: consultant-led surgical care, anaesthetic and hospital fees, compression garment guidance, personalised aftercare with wound support, and all follow-up appointments. Confirmed in writing before you decide anything.

from £2,500

Your final quote reflects the areas treated and the volume involved, and is always confirmed in writing before you book. Where liposuction is combined with a tummy tuck or fat transfer, the combined plan is quoted as one procedure.
ONGOING CARE

Recovery, week by week

Week one brings swelling, bruising and tightness, the compression garment worn day and night, and light walking encouraged from the start.

Weeks two to three, swelling eases, desk work and gentle daily tasks return, and light exercise resumes towards the end.

Weeks four to six, bruising fades, the garment moves to daytime wear, and the shape starts declaring itself. The real reveal is slower than the surgery: over three to six months the skin contracts down onto the new contour, which is why results are judged then and not in the mirror of week two.

Temporary numbness or firmness in treated areas is normal and settles. Your aftercare plan puts every stage in writing, with consultant-led support throughout.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about liposuction at Apex Medical

Small incisions are made in or near the treated area, and a fine cannula breaks up and suctions out the unwanted fat, allowing your surgeon to reshape the zone. It significantly improves contour, but it is not a replacement for diet and exercise.

From £2,500, including consultant-led surgical care, anaesthetic and hospital fees, aftercare and all follow-up appointments. Your written quote follows consultation and reflects the areas treated and the volume involved.

Expect soreness, bruising and tightness afterwards rather than sharp pain; most patients compare it to an intense muscle ache. It's well managed with the medication you go home with and subsides within days.

The common and temporary ones: bruising, swelling, mild discomfort, and numbness or firmness in the treated area that settles over time, plus small scars usually hidden in natural folds. The less common ones: contour irregularity, fluid build-up (seroma), delayed wound healing, changes in skin sensation, and rare infection or fat embolism. Your surgeon names these plainly at consultation, with real numbers, and all surgery takes place in CQC-registered hospitals with consultant-led aftercare throughout.

No, and any clinic implying otherwise is overselling. It removes localised fat to improve contour in people at or near a stable weight; the scales barely move, but the shape does.

The removed fat cells do not return. A stable weight and healthy lifestyle preserve the result; significant weight gain stores fat in the cells that remain.

Not significantly. If loose skin is part of your picture, the honest recommendation may be combining liposuction with skin-removal surgery such as a tummy tuck, and your consultation will say so plainly.

Absolutely, and commonly: stubborn abdominal fat and flanks are frequent requests. Where the issue is chest tissue rather than fat alone, gynecomastia surgery is usually the more complete answer.

The abdomen and flanks, thighs and hips, upper arms, back and bra-line, chin, knees and calves, individually or combined in one plan.
